Top 7 YouTube Creators

If you are like me, sometimes watching other artists doing their thing can be the trigger you need to get you motivated and in the studio creating. In this post I’m sharing my top seven YouTube creators I avidly watch. These creators have helped me with artist block, artist guilt, or just boredom at times. Here is a list of seven creators that you may want to subscribe to if you haven’t already this year in 2023:

1. Ten Hundred

Ten Hundred is one of my ultimate favorite artists to follow. He has a collection of great mural videos and has taught me a lot about how to run the business side of an art career.

2. Nerdforge

Skjera Bagera…..Martina and Hans! I love these two creators. If you are looking for inspiration by just watching other artists make cool stuff then this is the spot. Martina creates paintings and drawings yes, but she also makes full cosplay costumes, customized computer tower cases, giant wizards, and even made a 3D printed glove to recreate her missing pinky!

3. James Gurney

James Gurney is a traditional gouache and watercolor artist that will definitely have some insight on color theory, composition, and new techniques. This channel is great for tutorials.

4. César Córdova

For my Spanish speaking artists friends this channel is for you. English speaking friends, no need to worry, all his videos are subtitled in English. César has interesting videos that hit topics that remind me of conversations I would’ve had with college friends. Oh how I miss the days of being surrounded by a healthy thriving art community.

5. Cesar Santos

Cesar Santos is a great watch for anyone looking for a deeper dive into the “why” or “how” of an artist’s process. I love his enthusiasm about art and all the great emotional info and tips he shares.

6. Alpay

Alpay is a traditional artist that his technique down to a “T”. His knowledge and confidence bursts through every video making you feel like you should be taking notes while he works.

7. Chelsea Lang

Chelsea Lang is someone I recently picked up on. A lot of the topics discussed just hit home for me. Topics like “what to paint when you are lacking inspiration”, or if you think you are “painting too slow” are questions I think all painters ask themselves, and she covers them all here in her channel.
