"The Wizards" Mural at the APO Cultural Center Pilsen, Chicago
For this project, I drew inspiration from the imagery and color palette of late 1960s–70s Chicano muralism, which flourished in both L.A. and Pilsen. The mural reflects themes from The Wizards—haunting, death, and radical spirituality. The Wizards is a play follows a queer interracial couple in a Pilsen apartment who encounter a Ouija board, connecting them to the spirits of four youths from a 1970s Mexican-American Motown cover band.
